Representatives from the Horn of Africa and Sweden Gathered for the Annual Environmental Review meeting.

The Horn of Africa Environmental Sustainability Conference, officially kicked off today in the capital city of Hargeisa. This highly anticipated event brought together representatives from the countries of the Horn of Africa, as well as Sweden, social organizations, universities, academics, and esteemed dignitaries.

During the conference, financial managers and the SIDA presented an audit report on the Horn of Africa Environmental Sustainability Review, highlighting sound financial management practices.

The 3rd Annual Horn of Africa Environmental Projects Meeting concluded with a sense of gratitude and achievement. Participants expressed their immeasurable happiness at joining forces to champion environmental causes. As they departed, they carried with them a joyful momentum to fuel future endeavors.

In a symbolic gesture, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Somaliland, Ms. Shukri X. Baandare, planted a tree in the Geed-deeble Botanic Garden. This act emulated the numerous government ministers who, one by one, planted trees to protect the environment.

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) awarded a certificate of appreciation to the President of the Republic of Somaliland for his unwavering support to the Geed Deeble Botanic Garden. The Minister of Environment and Climate Change received the certificate on behalf of President Musa Bihi Abdi.

Barwaaqo Voluntary Organisation (BVO) also presented a certificate of appreciation to John Ajjugo from the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network (HoAREC) for his invaluable support to the Geed Deeble Botanic Garden.

Recognizing their significant contributions, the Somaliland Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, along with the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre and Network, awarded certificates of appreciation to Ms. Ulla Andren, Head of Regional Swedish Development and Cooperation Agency (SIDA), and Mr. Ayele Kebede from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

Minister Shukri H. Ismail, the Minister of Environment, warmly welcomed the 3rd Annual Review Meeting of the Horn of Africa Environmental Project in Somaliland. She acknowledged the invaluable role of partners and dedicated 810 hectares for conservation, research, and education initiatives. Minister Ismail highlighted notable achievements in indigenous plant preservation and climate change research. She applauded the support of the Barwaaqo Voluntary Organization and SIDA and called for united efforts in environmental preservation.

This successful conference is a testament to the collective commitment to safeguarding the environment in the Horn of Africa region and beyond. Participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to continue their dynamic work in environmental conservation and sustainability.
